Signature Belt
Signature Belt
The Smith Shop signature belt is the epitome of our approach to design and craftsmanship. It is incredibly simple, extremely functional, and so durable that it will be a staple in your grandchildren's wardrobe—someday. That kind of quality can only be achieved through proven craftsmanship and careful material sourcing. All of our buckles are hand fabricated at our Detroit studio, and made of solid copper, brass, or recycled sterling silver. They are forged, formed, soldered, and fit by hand. We make the most durable and functional production belt buckles in the United States today.
We’ve partnered with Daylight Factory, a Detroit-based leather goods company, to provide well-crafted leather straps. Each complete belt features the debossed Smith Shop logo, handmade branded rivets and a leather stay.
Buckles come in three materials and three sizes. Belts come in three leather options. Specify waist size once belt is placed in cart. Some variations are in stock, but usually made to order. Allow 2-4 weeks for delivery.
How to determine your belt size
We make our belts using actual waist measurements. Use a soft measuring tape (tailor’s tape) to measure around your waist where your belt will sit. Don’t snug it up too tightly. Alternatively, you can use a piece of string then measure the length of string with a standard measuring tape. You can specify your waist measurement to nearest 1/2 inch. Five sizing holes per belt are provided, the center hole will correspond to your given measurement. Measurements above 42” may incur additional cost.
Selecting buckle and belt width
1” buckles make great men’s dress belts and are a standard width for women’s belts.
1 1/4” buckles are a standard width for men’s belts. They will fit through belt loops on men’s pants.
1 1/2” buckles are more substantial. If you wear your button-down shirt tucked-in, and are looking for your belt to be a noticeable element in your ensemble, then this is the width for you. 1 1/2” belts will still fit most belt loops on men’s pants but it won’t hurt to double check.
